When Buju Banton was locked up on drug charges in the United States, his wife did not stick around and wait for him. Instead Nina Atalah abandoned the deejay and ran into the arms of the famous Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan.
At the time, some fans were angry at Atalah for walking out on Buju Banton while some said she did what was best for her during that time.
“She did not stand by her husband, that speaks volume of her character,” one fan posted on social media.
“The husband that had a child during their marriage,” another fan responded.
Tonight, however, Gyan is in the Bahamas to enjoy the second leg of the Long Walk to Freedom tour.
When 18 Karat Reggae met up with Asamoah Gyan backstage, he declined to say anything about Nina Atalah or the fact that she was married to Buju Banton.
“I am not here to get into any negativity, I am here to enjoy the great Buju Banton,” Gyan said.
“I am feeling so joyful to see my brother perform. A lot of Jamaicans don’t know this but they are all from Ghana, so I am going to see my Ghanaian brother perform. This is so spiritual,” he continued.
The footballer could not tell us which of Buju Banton’s album his favorite is as he says the deejay has too many classics for him to choose just one.
“I love Til Shilo, Inna Heights, Too bad… I love all of them honestly… any songs he performs tonight will be great,” he concluded.
