One of the men charged along with Vybz Kartel for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams was yesterday sentenced to26 years in prison.
Kahira Jones who was already serving a life sentence for the murder of Williams was found guilty of shooting and injuring another man. He was found guilty of wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
The judge sentenced him to 18 years for the wounding with intent and 8 years each for possession of firearm and ammunition. While that is a total of 34 years, he two 8-year possession charges will be served concurrently but consecutively with the 18-year wounding charge for a combine 26-year sentence.
Jones along with Kartel and the other convicts are awaiting the result of an appeal of their murder conviction. If they are victorious in their appeal, Kartel and the others would walk free but Jones would remain behind bars to serve his current sentence.
Vybz Kartel’s attorney had said earlier this year that he expected to appeal judges to come back with a verdict by March of this year, however, that did not happen.
