Vybz Kartel is determined to fight his murder conviction tooth and nail; and his attorney, Isat Buchanan, is confident and cautiously optimistic that in about two weeks they will hear from the Jamaica Supreme Court on whether or not they can continue that fight.
Buchanan is seeking to have Kartel’s 2014 murder conviction overturned and although the two weeks time frame is not guaranteed, two weeks seem ideal.
“The Appeal Court reserved the judgement, so we are now waiting to hear their decision. We are hoping for it to happen in the next two weeks, but you just never know, look at what happened the last time,” Buchanan said.

The “last time” Buchanan is referencing is the almost two years Vybz Kartel had to wait for the result of his appeal of the murder conviction. Although the appeal was denied, the attorney-at-law is confident that permission to take the case to the Privy Council will be granted.
“I believe in the Jamaican constitution. The Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms Act, 2011, is revolutionary in upholding human rights,” he said.
Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for murder but that has not stop the artiste from releasing new music almost on a weekly basis, including his new album “Of Dons and Divas”.
