An attorney for Vybz Kartel seems to no longer be denying that Clive “Lizard” Williams was killed at the deejay’s house in Havendale, St Andrew. Instead, Valerie Neita-Robertson told the Appeals Court that her client could not have been at the house because he was at a local hospital.
The entertainer arrived at a Corporate Area hospital at 7:48 pm on the same day of the incident, according to the attorney.
“It would mean that Mr. Palmer would not be at the house when this murder happened,” the Queens Counsel told the court.
This could mean trouble for Kartel’s co-defendants.
If Kartel can prove that he was indeed at the hospital at the time of the alleged murder, he could be freed but at the same time, if any of his co-defendants were at the house during that time frame, it could cause them to lose their appeal.
Evidence was given by police Inspector Warren Williams, who heads the police cybercrimes unit, that cell tower information placed Kartel at the Havendale house at 7:52 pm.
However, Neita-Robertson pointed to evidence given by the main prosecution witness that he arrived at the house at 8:00 pm, witnessed the events that unfolded and then took Kartel to the hospital close to 9:00 pm.
Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Williams.
Kartel was ordered to serve 35 years before he is eligible for parole.
His co-accused – fellow entertainer Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John, were also sentenced to life in prison. They were ordered to serve 25 years before being eligible for parole.
